Secondary Education SIG

The Middles Grades Special Interest Group is lead by Amber Coe. This SIG is holding an upcoming event entitled "Education Celebration" where members share fun ideas and tips for the classroom.

The Literacy Special Interest Group is our second largest SIG with 30 members. As the leader of the SIG, Kayla Kishbaugh has provided extensive community service opportunities for members in addition to professional development applicable to students in numerous areas of study. The literacy SIG is active with America Reads, the Charles A. Melton Center, and other service opportunities both on and off campus.

The Early Grades Preparation SIG is our largest Special Interest Group with 76 members. The EGP SIG is lead by Jennifer O'neill, who has organized numerous community service events and professional growth opportunities for members of all areas of study. The EGP SIG consistently volunteers with Ronald McDoanld House, The Friends Association, America Reads, and West Chester Area School District.

Play SIG

 

The Play SIG focuses specifically on creating more oppportunities for children and adults alike to play. Freshman Madeline Conte started the SIG in the Fall of 2014. Madeline has held several fundraisers for One World Futbol, an international organization that provides indestructable soccer balls to children in need all around the world.

Political Action Committee for Education

Although not a Special Interest Group, the Political Action Committee for Education, or PACE, integrates political issues and elections into WCU SPSEA. The committee lead voter registration drives, distributed campaign materials, and educated members on current issues involving government and education. 

The Secondary Education Special Interest Group, lead by Kimberly Dempsey, made valuable contributions to WCU SPSEA throughout the year. Members participated in events in all four areas of APEX.
